South Africa will be looking for an early breakthrough on day three of the first Test in Dunedin.
As it stands, the game is evenly poised. New Zealand trail by 131 runs, with seven first-innings wickets remaining. Yet, the hosts are effectively four down after Ross Taylor retired hurt with a calf injury late on day two.
Kane Williamson looks to be in imperious form. If the New Zealand skipper bats for a session or two on day three, the hosts will take the lead in this contest.
On the other hand, if Williamson departs early and the Proteas go into the second innings with a lead of 50 runs or more, New Zealand will be in trouble. South Africa will need their seamers to fire, and Keshav Maharaj will have a key role to play with a ball that is already 55 overs old.
