The Proteas have won the toss and decided to bat in the first ODI against India in Durban.

AB de Villiers has been ruled out of the first three games of this six-match series due to a finger injury. Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis confirmed at the toss on Thursday that Aiden Markram, who made his ODI debut against Bangladesh last October, will replace De Villiers at No 4.

JP Duminy and Chris Morris have also been added to the South African lineup. Imran Tahir will form part of a five-prong specialist bowling attack later in the match.

PREVIEW: SA vs India (1st ODI)

As expected, India have backed Ajinkya Rahane for the key batting role of No 4. Rahane was one of the standout performers for the tourists in the recent Test at the Wanderers, which India won by 63 runs.
