    Classy Kohli feasts on Proteas

Virat Kohli Classy Kohli feasts on Proteas
    Published on February 7, 2018 | Leave a response

Virat Kohli’s magnificent innings of 160 not out at Newlands is our Play of the Day.

Kohli has been in sublime form on this tour to South Africa. He was one of the few batsmen who fired for the visitors in the Test series – scoring 286 runs at an average of 47.67 – and has been the star of the ODIs thus far with contributions of 112, 46 not out, and now 160 not out.

Kohli scored his 160 runs at Newlands off 159 balls. He hit 12 fours and two sixes in an innings that spanned 49 overs and nearly four hours.

REPORT: Dominant India strengthen grip on series

The India captain was given out by the on-field umpire in the third over of the match. He was on 0 at the time.

Kohli called for a review immediately, and was vindicated when the replays showed that the ball had hit the bat before cannoning into the pad. From there, Kohli proceeded to dominate the seamers as well as the leg-spinner Imran Tahir.

Kohli’s 140-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan set India up for a big score. He kept the run-rate going through the middle overs, and then went after Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada at the death.

Kohli smashed the latter for a six and then a four in the last over to propel India beyond the 300-mark.
