Heino Kuhn’s century led the destruction of Nottinghamshire in the quarter-final of the One-Day Cup, as Kent chased down 255 to win by nine wickets with 14 overs remaining.

Kuhn, who signed a Kolpak agreement in March this year, has had a wonderful debut season. His unbeaten 124 in this match – his highest score in this campaign – made him top batsman in the One-Day Cup, with 537 runs from nine innings, including three hundreds and a fifty, at an average of 89.5.

He is also the top Kent batsman in the County Championship, ranked ninth in the Division Two table with 313 runs from five matches at an average of 44.7, with three fifties.

Against Notts, he took total command from the outset, as he and Daniel Bell-Drummond put on 194 for the first wicket in 29 overs.

And when Bell-Drummond was stumped on 79, Joe Denly slotted in seamlessly to score 52 off 28 balls (four fours, five sixes).

Kuhn was aggressive from the outset. England left-arm seamer Harry Gurney’s first two overs cost 27 and Kuhn had 25 of them.

He ended with 13 fours and two sixes among the 114 balls he faced, taking Kent into a semi-final meeting with Worcestershire on Sunday.
