    Abbott receives due reward

Kyle Abbott celebrates Abbott receives due reward
    Published on December 30, 2016 | Leave a response

Kyle Abbott is awarded our Play of the Day following his dismissal of Angelo Mathews on day five at St George’s Park.

Abbott toiled long and hard over the course of day four for no reward. The big South African kept things tight, conceding just 31 runs in his 15 overs.

He thought he had his first wicket when Dhananjaya de Silva was trapped in front late in the day, but a review showed that the ball was missing the stumps.

Four overs into day five, Abbott made the breakthrough. This time it was Mathews who wore the delivery on his pads. This time, the review proved unsuccessful.

Abbott raised his hands in celebration when the third umpire confirmed that the Sri Lanka captain was out. Abbott had his first wicket of the second innings.

It wasn’t long after that Abbott claimed the important wicket of De Silva. The Proteas bowlers then made quick work of the Sri Lankan tail to secure victory.
